Moon Watching

So you may or may not have heard, but there are some pretty intense wildfires happening in Canada now, which the smoke from has descended on us here in North Dakota. Anyways, it gives the moon a pretty good color, so I went out with 3 different cameras on the same lens to see what I could get.

This first one I took with my Fujifilm X-T1 mounted to my Nikon 200-400 f/4 with a 1.4x Teleconverter and a Metabones passive adaptor (not a speedbooster.) Cropped in heavily it is amazing how much detail is left in the moon. I'll link each of these images back to my flickr so that you can zoom in a bit. So this image was 550mm ~f/6.3 ISO 1600 1/8th of a second. Really good for a crop sensor camera cropped in heavily.

This next one here was with my Wifes Nikon D7000, also a 16 megapixel Crop Sensor camera, but this shot was at ISO 800, 550mm, f/6.3, 1/25th of a second with Vibration Reduction. It is pretty horrible in comparison to the Fuji camera, even for being a full stop lower in ISO and with VR.

This last one is a much closer in, lower resolution crop from a photo from my Nikon D4, one of the kings of Low Light. Even though it is a lot lower resolution than the D7000 shot, there is definitely more detail because it holds onto it better at higher ISO values. This shot was at 550mm, ISO 3200, f/8 1/30th of a second. Pretty good for an extreme crop.

Thanks for reading, I think this is fairly interesting, and shows yet again how good the little Fujifilm cameras are doing.
