So I went out in search of birds on Thursday with my Friend and Co-Worker Brad. I think we did all right for going out this early in the season. We started out going to Lake Nelson, a few miles West of Bismarck here, but we eventually made our way all the way up to the Lake Audubon Wildlife Refuge, just north of Coleharbor. There were so many Canada Geese, but I think that their numbers were dwarfed by how many Snow Geese there were. In the image above we couldn't even see through the group there were so many. It was insane! These next few are from Lake Nelson, where we didn't get much. I was trying to use a Tamron 2x teleconverter in conjunction with my Nikon 200-400 f/4, but it really wasn't getting me the results that I wanted, so I got rid of it after we were done at this lake and decided to just crop in on what I wanted if I needed it. Next is more from Lake Audubon. And here we have Brad being super cool. Check out his photos from the day over at http://bradsphotographs.com/the-great-outdoors/. He has some really great stuff. And surprisingly, with how warm it has been the past couple weeks, there was still a ton of ice left on the lake. But that is enough of that. More birds! At this point we were getting pretty tired, so we decided to head back towards town. But as we were driving, a huge group of Turkeys came out of a little thicket, so of course we had to stop. Pretty much the cherry on the top of the day. And that is enough birds for one day.
