Since the light was just so fantastic on Friday afternoon, I decided to grab my camera and bring it over to Luft with us when we headed over there for a drink after work. Really fun, like always! I won't put too much text in here, just the nice photos that we took (because obviously when you go out with photographers more than one person will use the camera.) All taken with my Fujifilm X-Pro2 + 23mm f/2.
It is somewhat of a family tradition to at least attempt to take a camping trip up into the mountains the day after Thanksgiving. Since my wife and I had driven down to Colorado to see my family for said holiday, we thought it would be fun to go, especially since there isn't the same sort of camping here in North Dakota. I didn't take a huge amount of photos, but I am really happy with what I did get! Its still going to end up being a pretty long post though, so please stay tuned!
For camera gear I brought both of my Fujifilm X-T2s, the Fuji 23, 10-24, 16-55, and 50-140, as well as the Rokinon 12mm f/2. Basically a "dress-rehearsal" for the gear that I am taking with me to New Zealand!
So we had a team outing this past week out to Theodore Roosevelt National Park! It was super fun to go there with a group of people, and to actually get people in my photos instead of just the normal plants/animals. I know that I had a really great time out there, so I apologize, since this is going to be a super long post!
Also so much plaid...
For camera gear I took my Fujifilm X-T2 and X-Pro2 for camera bodies, and I took my 16-55 f/2.8, 100-400 f/4.5-5.6, 23 f/1.4, and 90 f/2. That was a really nice combo for a day at the park! I could have used the Canon 5D IIIs from work, but those were larger than I wanted to carry all day (same reason that I don't use my Nikon D4s too much anymore.)
So My Co-Worker Brad and I were sent up to Williston ND for a commercial Photo/Video shoot and it ended up being a lot more time-effective (even though the first flight was delayed by an hour) than driving 3 1/2 hours there and 3 1/2 hours back. While I couldn't take any personal fun photos during the shoot (too busy doing work) I took plenty during our flights there and back! We were flying on a King Air C90 there and something slightly larger but still probably King Air on the way back. Really fun flying in the little plane with 3 other people and the pilot! There were 4 of us total for the shoot, Brad shooting stills, I was doing Video, and we had Mike and Ed from Shutter Pilots here in Bismarck ND doing drone footage as well! But enough with that, lets get to some super artsy photos!
All taken with my Fujifilm X-T2 + 10-24 f/4 OIS lens or 16-55 f/2.8. That 10-24 was pretty much perfect for this since it was stabilized which helped a TON when it got super dark.
Since it had been a while since I went up to Lake Audubon National Wildlife Refuge, I decided to head up there one Monday afternoon that I had off. While it wasn't the greatest wildlife shoot ever, I did still end up with nice photos nonetheless! I was driving around the refuge and nearby gravel roads searching out different birds for around 6 hours or so, and despite not seeing a lot of variety in birds (mostly geese and ducks) I did manage to grab a few nice photos of a couple hawks and even a golden eagle!
For all of these photos I was shooting with either my Fujifilm X-T2 + Battery Grip + 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 + 1.4x teleconverter or my Fujifilm X-Pro2 + 90 f/2 or 16-55 f/2.8. Fujifilm finally has a camera capable of tracking birds in flight!
